Food Drive

The Atlanta Food Bank has empty shelves and the dark days of chilly weather are coming. More families are shopping at the Food Bank than ever before and there are less organizations donating than usual (due to strange economic times). So, we are moving our winter food drive (generally in February) to November this year. Please send canned goods or boxed foods (like cereal).  Ask at your office and let your kids ask at church or Scouts. Our goal is ambitious this year (1000# of food) but we will also have boxes out at the neighborhood businesses and we have an article in the Porch Press, as well.  The kids will go one Saturday morning with Debbie up and down some of the streets in the SAND neighborhood and one late afternoon on a Wednesday.  Kids will weigh in their food as they bring in so we can keep track of the amount collected.  We are also challenging five other small schools to do the same and hopefully, we'll help fill some of those empty pantry shelves at the Food Bank.  Hungry people have to eat!
