Time: 4 weeks:

Materials:
1. The Story of King Arthur (retold by Robin Lister)
2. Excalibur (the film by John Boorman)
3. King Arthur: His Life and Legends (an A&E documentary video)
3. Maps and handouts to provide historical background on 5th century England
Reading Schedule; We will read one chapter on Monday through Thursday. There will be other background reading for historical information as assigned.
Activities:
1. Silent Reading at the beginning of each class.
2. Oral Reading
3. Notes and Writing Prompts in the Literature Notebook
4. An art project
Evaluation:
