Course description

This class for Kingfisher middle schoolers will examine in depth the history, geography and culture of Asia, focusing mainly on southeast Asia, China, and Afghanistan.  We will base our studies on novels and films set in various Asian countries in several time periods.  An overview of world religions will be included in the course content.  Besides reading/viewing and discussing the novels and films, learning activities will include mapping work, sampling Asian food, exposure to Asian music and art, guest speakers, current events in Asia, class projects and field trips.
