Course description
This year, Kingfisher's Sea Turtle class will be looking in-depth at the geography of our country, and dabbling in history and cultrual studies along the way. This course involves many hands-on activities, extensive work with maps, and frequent field trips. We will start with our home turf with a unit on Georgia's geography, and then look at each region of our country, east to west. Some of the course content will coordinate with the science curriculum, as we look at land forms, geology and ecosystems.
Students will maintain a notebook with each day's Quote of the Day, class notes, and homework, and will each create his or her own map of the United States, complete with the features and details of personal interest. Vocabulary and content quizzes will be given each week, and class projects and occasional tests will also be included in each quarter's work.
