West Indies Activity
Assignment Description:
Students will learn about West Indies history, geography, and culture by completing three small evaluation products about a country of their choosing.
Report - This written component involves a short report on their island nation's history, geography, and culture. This should be neatly written and double-spaced, or it should be word-processed. If hand-written, it should be approximately two pages in length. If word-processed, it should be about one page in length. The reports should follow the rules of language, and students should have a writing conference with Mr. Johnson before submitting a final draft.
Map - This component is a visual piece. Students should create a map of the country showing the capitol, the important cities, and noteworthy physical features (such as mountains, rivers, etc.).
Food -- Students should prepare a food item eaten in their country. We'll put together a Caribbean meal for a “West Indies Luncheon” on the due date for this activity. The due date for all three components of the activity is Thursday, May 1. Parents are invited to join us for lunch that day!
Each component is worth 25 points, and 75 total points are available for this activity.
